Postscript: Tesco value MP

A small amuse-bouche to yesterday’s Dim Prawn main course of refusing to get your hands dirty critcising Tesco …

Bristol East MP, Kerry McCarthy, is now holding constituency surgeries at Tesco Extra in Brislington!

How long before Labour drop the ‘New’ in favour of Tesco Labour?

People should shop elsewhere. Tesco is too big and powerful and they are making the lives of their staff unbearable by cutting their wages and putting them under immense pressure. I work for them and i shop elsewhere…….VOTE WITH YOUR FEET

  2. Hunnymonster says:

Tesco have been voted as the dirtiest supermarket out of the big 4…….says it all

  3. Chris says:

How dare a MP go to a place where significant numbers of the constituents assemble?

“How dare a MP go to a place where significant numbers of the constituents assemble?”

Yeah but some people want a bit of privacy with their MP not ducking between the aisles dodging trolleys while she minesweeps for dropped receipts to put in as expenses claims.

I’m actually quite surprised anybody can be bothered to comment on this post.

To be honest, it was written on a cheerful, sunny Sunday morning that made me feel like using the term amuse bouche and drawing a stupid logo.

  6. Chris says:

Inks — yes, some will wish to do their affairs in private. I’m sure that Kerry will still be providing private meetings to her constituents.

Surely, by going out into the community and a very busy place at that, she may bring herself to the uses of people who would otherwise not get involved with their MP.

I really fail to see how this can be a negative thing.

  7. Ella says:

You talk like you are under the false impression that she gives a shit about her constituents.

  8. Chris says:

I talk having personally experienced assistance with an issue (which incidentally I would have felt comfortable discussing in Tesco’s cafe) from Kerry.

  9. Ella says:

That’s irrelevant when everything else she does on a scale that has genuine national and local impact shows a complete lack of regard, possibly even contempt, for the entire community she pretends to serve. Have you ever seen her talk about places like Easton? It’s horrendous. ‘Pubs are shutting down because lots of Somalian people live there.’ She has infantile intelligence, no meaningful awareness of 3/4s of her constituency, she rarely ever speaks about Bristol (and why should she? She’s only here because she drew straws) and when she does it’s in the way any idiot would had they been once when they 15. Everything she has ever done as an MP has been simply to further her Parliamentary career and I personally loathe her. The reason she isn’t a Tory is pure coincidence, possibly to do with whichever party it was easier to break into as a lawyer. I have watched her every action and vote for quite a while now and it’s a fairly natural conclusion to come to. Do some investigating yourself and you’ll see. So perhaps this is why we all think it’s a negative thing: everything she does has a 90-95% chance of being negative or self-serving.

  10. Chris says:

Well, that’s merely your opinion. Not that I agree with it at any level.

  11. Mike says:

Totally agree with Ella re Kerry M, she is a New Labour clone.

  12. chrishutt says:

Don’t underestimate Kerry. She may be a Labour loyalist but she’s a smart cookie.

  13. HP sauce says:

I have it on good authority that Kerry bought a small flat near Temple Teads for appearances, but in reality has continued to live in Luton since being elected a Bristol MP.
    Can anyone confirm or deny?

  14. Ella says:

Chris, what she’s voted on and her Parliamentary record aren’t opinion. What she says on her blog isn’t my opinion. You can’t just dismiss plain fact as opinion. The way I interpret her actions and statements is my opinion but the facts speak for themselves. Like I said actually look up her voting record. The only time she has ever reneged was over the expenses scandal because she made a big song and dance over why she voted against more openness on Parliamentary a few short weeks before it all came out that lots of MPs, herself included with how she detailed where she “lives.” She acted like she was ‘duped’ into voting for it but in reality she was caught red-handed- like everyone else.

So, look up the definition of opinion, after having viewed her voting record, and I think you’ll see opinion doesn’t mean ‘facts contray to your own personal belief.’

  15. Ella says:

    *openness on Parliamentary expenses/affairs

    HP Sauce:

I think that’s up there with the claim “on good authority” – also made once in the comments of this blog – that Kerry was in a long term relationship with Shahid Malik. (They actually share an office).
